Last week, Jennifer was in the UK to launch her book, CERTAIN GIRLS, in paperback, and popped into our offices in London to answer your questions!
Here are her answers...
As a budding author I am currently trying to get my first novel looked at by publishers, never mind published. Do you have any tips on how to make the breakthrough?
On my website, www.jenniferweiner.com, I've got about ten pages of advice for writers. Another website I like for new writer is Kristen Nelson's Pubrants: www.pubrants.blogspot.com.
How much of yourself goes into your leading ladies?
I'd say there's some of me in my leading ladies...and the supporting characters...and, sorry to say, in the villains, too!
Just finished reading Jennifer Weiner's 'Certain Girls.' Do you get as emotional when you are writing your books as I do reading them?
Yes, I do get emotional sometimes when I'm writing. Which is embarrassing, given that I write iin a coffee shop!
Your essay on huffington post has been circulating twitter and has certainly been well-received – do you plan to write more for them?
My plan is to write for the Huffington Post when I've got something to say that might be of interest to more than the readers of my blog.
Loved your piece in the Huffington Post – Why did you decide to write it? Were you approached to do so?
I wrote that piece after fellow blogger pointed out Ellen Heltzel's piece and figured (correctly) that I'd have something to say. I approached the Huffington Post with it and they were nice enough to print.
Cannie has appeared in two books now. Is she your favourite character to write for and do you plan to bring back any other characters in the future?
Cannie is fun to write, but I can't pick a favorite -- it feels like being asked which kid I love the best! But yes, I think we'll see her again.
Will there be a third book in the "Good in Bed" series? I hope so!
Yes, I left Cannie in a place where there are some big questions to answer about her future, which means we will see her again!
What are you working on now?
I just finished my seventh book, BEST FRIENDS FOREVER. It'll be out in the States in July, and you can read about it at www.jenniferweiner.com.
CERTAIN GIRLS is out now in paperback and is available at all good bookshops and online book retailers.
A big, big thank you to everyone who submitted via livejournal and twitter!

Hopefully, I'll get Daniel Depp's interview soon... He has taken the questions home with him so that he can answer them fully :-)
